Thomas son of Nicholas Philip Trist and Virginia Jefferson Randolph born at Monticello, at the home of his Great Grandfather, and namesake, President Thomas Jefferson. The line to Jefferson was through his mother Virginia daughter of Thomas Mann Randolph Jr. and Martha Jefferson.
Thomas was born deaf, but lived a full life and attended school and was an instructor at the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. He married twice with no issue, but two of his siblings carried on the line.
