Inside Skull and Bones Rare photos of the interior of Yale’s most storied “tomb.”


These photos, of unknown date, are likely from a long-ago break-in at the Skull and Bones hall. They appear to show rooms in the rear block of the tomb, which was added in 1883. Though the interior is kept very secret today, it wasn’t always so. The Denver Tribune-Republican described this new wing on April 25, 1886: “It is nicely fitted up, the walls are appropriately frescoed in lavender, maroon, and chrome tints with skulls and cross-bones in the panels.” Yale Magazine see article Skull & Bones
