General Tom Thumb, stage name of Charles S. Stratton (1838-1883), internationally famous through his work for P. T. Barnum. He was married to Livinia Warren in 1863, and received by Abraham Lincoln at the White House afterwards. At the time, he stood two feet nine inches tall.
